A Brief History

Emory Hill was founded in 1981 in Newark, Delaware by R. Clayton Emory and Robert H. Hill, with Carmen J. Facciolo Jr. becoming a partner in 1983. Emory Hill started out as a development company and Emory Hill & Company was formed to provide comprehensive construction management and design-build services.

Emory Hill Real Estate Services, Inc. was founded in 1983 to independently handle property management, maintenance and brokerage services. Today, this division manages our portfolio of over five million square feet, as well as commercial and industrial properties for other investors. Services include asset and property management, leasing, sales, financing, marketing and financial analysis, and maintenance.

In 1997, our brokerage services division aligned with NAI Global, the world’s largest managed network of real estate service providers, and NAI Emory Hill was formed.  In January of 2008, Jim O’Hara Realty joined the Emory Hill family of companies and now operates as NAI Emory Hill Retail Division, the retail arm of our commercial brokerage firm.  Then in April of 2008, Emory Hill Residential Real Estate was formed, establishing the Emory Hill companies as Delaware’s only completely full service real estate company. In 2011, Emory Hill Residential merged with Millman West and became Emory Hill Residential/Millman West.

Emory Hill expanded once again to open a new office in Lewes, Delaware in 2012 to better serve Sussex County and southern Delaware.

Today, the Emory Hill Companies continue to provide comprehensive real estate services to the Mid-Atlantic region including commercial brokerage, construction, property management and maintenance, and residential real estate services.

From our first office in Newark, Delaware, our operational territory has expanded to include all of Delaware and surrounding parts of Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and we currently have offices in New Castle and Lewes, Delaware.

We have built and developed over 15 million square feet with a value of well over $600 million. This dynamic growth is the direct result of our philosophy of quality and personal service. Whether the job requires the construction of a large corporate operations center, or solving the intricate security problems of a small high-tech research firm, we respond quickly and intelligently to the needs of our clients, treating each one like a partner.
