Emory Hill Celebrates 45 Years in Business

New Castle, DE [July 5, 2026] – July 5, 2026, marks Emory Hill & Company’s 45th anniversary in business.
Founded in 1981 by Bob Hill, Clay Emory, and Carmen Facciolo, Jr., the firm was built on a simple premise: combine local expertise with a long-term perspective and prioritize lasting client relationships. While much has changed since those early years, the core philosophy remains intact.
“From the beginning, we believed that if you focused on doing right by your clients and building lasting relationships, the rest would follow. This approach has guided the company from day one.” -Bob Hill, Founder

These values have been carried across generations of leadership in a company with longstanding family ties. Following the retirement of Bob Hill, both Neil Kilian, CCIM, SIOR, and Clay Hill, CCIM, CPM, became partners in 2023, marking a significant moment in the firm’s continued growth and succession. Today, Carmen Facciolo, Jr. serves as President, guiding the company with the same long-term perspective he has maintained since its founding.
“We’ve been through multiple market shifts in both the industry and the economy, and each has presented different opportunities and challenges. What has remained consistent is our ability to adapt while staying grounded in our core values.” -Carmen Facciolo, Founder & Current President
In its early years, the company focused on development and construction, a foundation that has supported decades of expansion across its services. Over time, Emory Hill broadened its divisions to include brokerage, property management, and facilities maintenance, evolving into a fully integrated real estate services platform. More recently, that growth has continued with the opening of a satellite office in Sussex County, the expansion into residential property management and real estate, and the acquisition of Delaware Lock, a commercial and residential locksmith company.

“One of the biggest reasons we’ve remained competitive is our willingness to adapt alongside the market. I’ve seen that firsthand as the brokerage side of the business has evolved significantly since the late 1990s, and that same mindset continues to shape how we approach opportunities today.” -Neil Kilian, CCIM, SIOR, Partner, Director of Brokerage
That expansion has also been reflected in the company’s property management portfolio, where an owner’s perspective plays a central role in decision-making.
“A big part of our evolution has been investing in and owning many of the properties we manage. We approach decisions the same way any owner would, because in many cases, we are one. Across a portfolio of more than 5.8 million square feet of commercial and residential properties, that mindset makes a difference in how we plan for long-term growth.” -Clay Hill, CCIM, CPM, Director of Property Management
Consistency is also reflected in the company’s commitment to the community. Beyond its real estate services, Emory Hill has prioritized giving back, supporting local organizations like The Mary Campbell Center, Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth Beach, Easterseals of Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore, and Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County.

Legacy co-founder Clay Emory, who passed away in 2024, continues to be felt across the organization. Known for his humanitarian spirit, leadership, kindness, and many lifetime accomplishments in the business community, his contributions remain a lasting part of Emory Hill’s identity.
As the firm enters its 45th year, it does so with a clear view of the future. Opportunities in development, acquisitions, and continued regional growth present new avenues for expansion, while the company remains firmly rooted in the work ethic and strong relationships established more than four decades ago.
“There is a lot of opportunity ahead, particularly as the region continues to evolve. We are well-positioned to continue delivering value to our clients across all divisions in new and meaningful ways,” said Kilian.
